Safe Business Initiative

In partnership with the Allstate Foundation, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office developed the Safe Business Initiative Program to assist in preventing and reducing criminal activity in the business community. After submitting contact information, the Sheriff's Office provides the participating business with a Safe Business Initiative Emergency Contact decal, which is to be affixed to the front door of the business. Each decal contains a reference number in which authorized law enforcement and fire rescue personnel can obtain emergency information made available by the business owner. In the event of an after hours incident at the business, the emergency contact will be notified of:

  • Burglary
  • Fire
  • Natural disaster
  • Theft
  • Trespassing
  • Vandalism

Programs

Participating St. Lucie County businesses can also take advantage of the following crime prevention programs offered by the Sheriff's Office.

  • Email/Fax Alert Program - Businesses with fax and email capabilities can receive email/fax alerts from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office regarding criminal trends or activities that could affect their businesses, information regarding individuals who are wanted and the latest methods in preventing crime. Businesses will have the edge in preventing criminal activity.
  • Security Surveys - Crime prevention practitioners are available to access the security of local businesses. These on-site surveys help to identify any potential problems and offer sensible cost effective solutions.
  • Employee Training - From theft prevention to personal safety, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office offers employee-training programs.
  • Commercial Operation Identification - Businesses are issued an identification number, similar to a driver license number, that can be used to mark property and equipment. Property marked with a commercial operation identification number increases the odds of recovery in the event of a theft.
