U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in St. Lucie County arrests Jarvis Gaskin, sought for Aug. 24 shooting in Indian River County, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, with members from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and Indian River County Sheriff's Office, has arrested 23-year-old Jarvis Gaskin, wanted for an Aug. 24 shooting in Indian River County, according to St. Lucie County Ken J. Mascara.

"The task force has been working with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office since last week attempting to locate Gaskin, who is a Fort Pierce resident," Sheriff Mascara said. "Investigative information led to Gaskin's arrest this morning at 11 a.m. at 5007 Lasalle Street, Apt. B, just north of Fort Pierce. This investigation involved a dangerous, violent felon who is now off the street."

The Sheriff said task force members went to the home and ordered its occupants outside. When they didn't comply, task force members forcibly entered the home and removed three males including Gaskin. Only Gaskin was detained. He was turned over to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Mascara thanked members of the St. Lucie County School District Security Unit who worked with St. Lucie County deputies of the Special Investigations Unit and Aviation Unit along with task force members to make Gaskin's arrest possible.

His five Indian River County Sheriff's Office charges, all felonies, are: attempted second degree murder (three counts), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharge of a firearm causing great bodily harm and shooting a deadly missile.
