St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara asks for public's help after overnight homicide
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office needs information about the overnight murder of a 24-year-old Fort Pierce man, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"Thomas James Alexander was shot several time and killed shortly after midnight at Glenview Drive and South Seventh Street," Sheriff Mascara said. "I am asking anyone with information to call our detectives at 772-462-3230 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477 (TIPS)."
Those who give tips to Crime Stoppers can do so without giving their names, and if a tip leads to an arrest, the tipster can be eligible for a cash reward. People can also give their tips to Crime Stoppers at the website tcwatch.org or by texting "Tip 151" plus the tip to 274637.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m., deputies received a call about the shooting. When deputies arrived, they found Thomas James Alexander, a black male, dead. He had been shot several times by unknown assailants. Deputies learned that the shooting took place after a brief confrontation.
Deputies established a perimeter with the help of a Fort Pierce Police Department K-9 team, but no suspects were found.
