St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara releases name of pilot in fatal crash west of Port St. Lucie
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara this afternoon identified the pilot who died in a single-engine plane crash this morning west of Port St. Lucie as John D. Schoonover, 62 (DOB 10/26/50), of 12701 SW 13th Manor, Davie, FL
Deputies responded to the scene of the 9 a.m. plane crash on Range Line Road, south of Glades Cut Off Road west of Port St. Lucie, Sheriff Ken J. Mascara said.
The airplane crashed nose down just west of Range Line Road near the entrance to Treasure Coast Air Park, and the pilot was dead at the scene, Sheriff Mascara said.

The plane was a single-seat, single-engine aircraft built from a kit, Sheriff Mascara said.
Representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration are at the scene of the crash, which the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
