Children aboard St. Lucie County School Bus 2414 who were not injured are being taken to the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center, according to Sheriff Mascara
St. Lucie County school children on the school bus which collided late this afternoon with a semi-tractor trailer and who were not hospitalized are being taken to the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
Parents of children who were on School Bus 2414 (Francis K. Sweet Elementary School) are also asked to go to the Emergency Operations Center, Sheriff Mascara said.
It is located at 15305 West Midway Road, west of Fort Pierce.
School bus 2414 was involved in a collision with a semi-tractor-trailer around 3:45 p.m. at Midway Road and Okeechobee Road, west of Fort Pierce.
Traffic has been halted in that area. Sheriff Mascara and many deputies are at the scene, along with St. Lucie County fire-rescue vehicles. Those who can avoid the area are asked to do so.
The Florida Highway Patrol has taken control of the investigation.
