St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Deputies Respond to The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum on North Hutchinson Island in Ft. Pierce for a report of a suspicious package
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara announced today that Deputies responded to the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in St. Lucie County for a report of a suspicious package that had been received by the Museum’s staff.
At approximately 9:49 a.m. Deputies responded to the museum located at 3300 North Highway A1A in Ft. Pierce for a report of a suspicious package. An unknown substance was found in the package and the St. Lucie County Fire District responded to the museum with their Hazardous Materials Team.
The museum and the surrounding county park were closed to the public while members of the Fire Department took preventative action.
Sheriff Mascara stated “Our Deputies responded immediately along with the Fire District and other public safety agencies to ensure that there was no danger to the public.”
At the present time the case is being investigated jointly by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, the County Health Department and Federal Authorities.
