  Captain Mark Schimpf

Captain Mark Schimpf is a 21 year veteran of the St. Lucie county Sheriff’s Office. Captain Schimpf flew helicopters in Vietnam and as a result of the experience he gained in the military, became the Chief Pilot for the Aviation Unit. While in the Chief Pilot’s position, Captain Schimpf was able to get several million dollars worth of excess federal property transferred to the sheriff’s office.

Other agency assignments have included Watch Commander, Court Security Commander, School Resource Commander and Marine Unit supervisor. Captain Schimpf is currently the Patrol Operations Division Commander which includes Patrol, K-9, Bomb Squad, Traffic, Crime Prevention, Crime Stoppers, Aviation, Marine, Dive Team and the Reserve Unit.

Captain Schimpf has a Bachelors degree and has taken several thousand hours of advanced criminal justice training.

Captain Schimpf is married and has three sons.
