Major Patrick Tighe
Major Patrick Tighe commands the Department of Detention and Judicial Services that includes the St. Lucie County Jail, Court Security Unit, Civil, Execution Unit and Warrants Unit.
In 1980, Major Tighe began his career with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections before relocating to Florida where he has spent the last 36 years. Prior to coming to the St Lucie County Sheriff's Office in 2002, his responsibilities were with the Broward Sheriff's Office. While with the Broward Sheriff's Office, he started as a Detention Deputy, working his way to Lieutenant Colonel - Director, overseeing 1,930 administrators, managers, supervisors and line staff with an inmate population over 4,700. Other areas of his job experience include Central Intake, Inspections and Accreditation.
Direct Supervision Detention Facility
Major Tighe's experience with Broward Sheriff's Office design and construction of a $29 million direct supervision detention facility was a great asset with his direct involvement in the new construction of the St Lucie County Detention Center's addition which was completed in year 2006.
Involvement with programs in the community that aid in improving the quality of life of those who unfortunately make wrong decisions and come through the doors of the St Lucie County jail is one of Major Tighe's on-going interests. Some of these programs include Substance Abuse, Mental Health, Religious programs and Education.
Improve Incarceration Process
Major Tighe has formed a close network with the County, Public Defender, Judges, State Attorneys, Chaplains, and Mental Health Facilities to continuously improve the processes in the care, custody, and control of those who are incarcerated.
